The word I hear most about Emily is “Fearless.” She loves to jump & climb, and has no thought of the consequences! I found her ON the kitchen table after just a quick trip to the bathroom! She is also very girly - we have started having tea parties, playing with baby dolls and trying on clothes. We counted that she has at least 100 words and will repeat anything you say. Emily hugs Joshua when he cries and will fake cry with him. She will point and say “cry” every time she hears someone crying. Emily LOVES strawberries!! She was so mad at me when I told here there are no strawberries in the Cheerios box, even tho they are on the picture on the front. She is a good eater and will often eat her food and then Joshua’s too! Emily gives kisses now. She likes to push Joshua on his trike, but gets mad that she can’t steer and push it herself. She still loves the carousel and this time threw her head back, trying to ride upside-down! She copies everything: she taps her leg to music in the car b/c she sees me do it. I was sitting with one leg out and one leg in putting sunscreen on her. She had both legs out, saw mine and picked up one leg to put it in like mine. She imitates Shawn when he coughs. Emily was copying Joshua when he said yes or no and Joshua got upset and said “No copy me, Emily!“ She is a good sleeper and will tell me “bye” or “night-night” before she falls asleep in the car. She likes to help - she’ll put her cup in the sink, and likes to put things “back”, tho they may or may not stay there… She loves to play chase; she and Joshua will chase each other around the circles downtowns. She’ll say “get you” and then run. She thinks it is so funny to put things down your shirt and then look for them to come out the bottom. She is good on the stairs now and can come down alone. Emily likes books now and will make up words as she’s reading them. Shawn got her a baby doll that talks when you feed it, and she loves to give it cereal, it’s bottle as well as her food and drink. She also wants to put clothes on it. She is getting much better with her fork and spoon, but is still pretty messy. She often says “no” for everything, even when she means “yes”. She loves to do raspberries! I came in and said good morning and she gives me a big raspberry and laughs! She thinks it is funny to pinch me b/c she laughs at my response and then loves getting tickled. Her right eyetooth broke thru this month. She is good at stacking blocks, putting mega blocks together and using the shape sorter. She can undo zippers. She likes to choose her own clothes and will say “no” if I pick something she doesn’t like. She loves Mickey Mouse and Elmo, and will carry the Mickey Mouse around the house with her. She loves hats and her new Mickey Mouse sunglasses. She loves bags and putting things in and taking things out of them.
Her words: apple, banana, yes, no, belly button, hair bow, shoes, socks, clothes, Joshua, mama, daddy, bunny, paci, mouse (Mickey), Elmo, duck (Donald), meow, woof, yogurt, waffle, cup, coke, juice, milk, book, I love you, eat, night-night, hi, hello, bye, shake, hat, glasses, cookie, sticker, flower, bath, water, more, please, burp, excuse me, beep-beep, thank you, c’mon, again, wait, stop, choo-choo, baby, peek-a-boo, again, papa, strawberry, up, upstairs, outside, bear, giraffe, here you go, where go?, there it is, tickle, backpack, get you, hide, get it, okay, back.
Joshua’s thought processes and reasoning skills are improving. He likes to call us an “ankle bot” to get the response of being chased or tickled. Shawn asked once if Joshua wanted a knuckle sandwich, so Joshua asked him later if he wanted an “ankle sandwich.” Joshua loves his new trike and rides it all around downstairs. He also loves to hide things in the bucket in the back. He won’t put his feet on the peddles yet, but can go pretty quick just using his feet. He also loves it when Emily pushes him around on it. Joshua looks out window and says “look mama, a skyscraper!” He’s also learning shapes like sphere, cylinder. He also repeats me: “are you listening to me, mama?” He has loved seeing all the birds that are coming to eat birdseed. There were some bunnies that came into the yard and Josh said, “Bunnies no have wings, no fly! Bunny hop!” He likes to say “Amazing!”, even to random things - the garbage truck coming, birds flying. We went to the bookstore and I asked Joshua what we should get for Emily & Dad. He said a little and pink book for Emily, and a big cars book for Dad. Joshua loves Emily! He thinks it is funny to tickle her neck, and chase her. They both go around making dinosaur noises. Emily was in her pack-n-play while I was in the shower and he told her “night-night” and prayed “no hit, love, thank you God.” He also is starting to test the limits and will ask “like this? Like this? Like this?” when asked to do something. He also likes to comment: “Good idea!” He picks up a lot from his cartoons - he told me “thanks, helping hands!” (from Mickey Mouse clubhouse) and “I cannot believe it!” (from Little Einsteins) He has started saying things are his “favorite”. He is still a tease - when reading a book, he said a t-rex was a “cute bunny”.
We got both kids “puddle jumper” life vests, and they both love the freedom of being able to float around the pool on their own! Joshua can paddle around, but I still stay close to Emily. They both will jump in the water alone and go down the slide without fear.
We also got some new music Cds that are Scripture. Both kids love them and both will do the motions to them. Joshua has favorites, (Think about Phil 4:8, and Go, Go, Go Matt 28:19) and will ask for certain songs (play one about trouble and heart - Take heart, in this world you will have trouble), and will just start singing them on his own (true, right, noble).
